Last Book in the Universe

A Review/Teaser by Milo

Nobody reads anymore. Why, when you could just Probe and actually be there, in your head? Spaz, a kid with a spastic disorder that prevents him from Probing, is the only kid that is living the world as it is. He has to journey through latches with evil, monkeylike humans, murderous villains, and finally, a dangerous minefield at “The Edge.” The Edge is the edge of a city, the only city without pollutants and concrete as far as the eye can see. The city is called Eden, and anyone who isn’t a Proov is banned. With the help of Proov girl Lanaya, Spaz is able to break in, at great risk to himself, in hope that the Proovs can save his sick adopted sister. Accompanied by Ryter, an old Gummy who is the only Living person who still knows how to read and write, and Little Face, a small orphan boy who says very few words, the main one being “Chox,” Spaz makes the journey the pipe, which used to carry water to the whole countryside, all the way to Eden. However, the people there are unsure wether they can cure Spaz’s sister, and even more unsure about if he can stay for more than a few weeks.

With it’s own language, country, and people, The Last Book in the Universe is like no other book in, well, the Universe.
